| If not for Dr. Feifke, Owner of Insight Optical in Burlington Mass, my husband may well have gone blind.
I had been a contented customer for several years when I dragged my husband in and now, four years and two operations later my husband only wears glasses for reading.
Dr. Feifke arranged appointments with the TOP diagnosticians and surgeons and followed along with us through the entire process.
I, on the other hand, must be contented with couture frames that make me look 20 years younger! OK, maybe not. But I get lots of compliments on them. |

| I recently made the wonderful discovery that I need glasses (not a strong prescription, just things far away) and looking at the list of VSP places picked this one. The woman helping me pick my first frames was very nice and put up with me trying on almost every pair in the case, and upfront told me what the price ranges were :]. Cost really depends on your insurance though.
Friendly, professional, helpful - thumbs up. |

| this is an incredible place. Dr.Feifke is kind considerate and the very best. My family all wears corrective lenses of some type. I experienced a little over a year ago an eye problem that was temporary and slow to cure. Along the way I was fitted with new lenses every two weeks while I waited to heal. I didn't think this could be done. I've learned also through the years that progressive lenses have developed in great strides. From only being flat lenses to now the contoured ones that make me so cool but also elimate the side glare or light from a sunny day. As an avid boater, angler, outdoorsman I need good polarized glasses and i was able to get my Maui's (finally) after three years of well not such becoming eye wear. They are light, durable and well as mentioned so cool. Back to Dr. Feifke. You've got to appreciate a gentleman who offers so much of himself to the underprivileged around the world. His dedication to helping the less fortunate improve their eyesight is commendable. He is shy about it but ask him. Staff is wonderful and yet maybe a bit of turnover but well Tom's always there. I wouldn't go anywhere else nor would my family. |

| I just had a great experience at Insight. I came specifically to look at those wonderful Danish Lindberg frames. The woman who helped me didn't pull any punches: the ones I was interested in were too small for my face. Then she went into the back and brought out a new pair of Lindbergs that hadn't even been priced yet, and they were perfect.
In addition to being my first pair of Lindbergs (which a friend who works for Zeiss speaks of with near-reverence), this was my first pair of progressives, a kindly euphemism for bifocals. The staff there explained the whole process patiently and thoroughly, and though they didn't give discounts for Harvard Vanguard insurance, they cut 20% off the frames (and you need every penny when buying Lindbergs).
So I'm a very satisfied customer. Nice location, great selection, very competent staff. |

| Cruising down Rte 3 and I go flash blind. No bright light or anything, just *click* white spot - field of vision, dead center.
Panic.
I can't see clearly, my head starts to hurt. I don't want to pull in to the breakdown lane because that shows weakness. Besides, I was on my way to meet a friend for lunch. Priorities, people.
I call the Penny to my Inspector Gadget, who scares the shit out of me with a WebMD diagnosis. Explained the situation to my lunchdate, Diane D. - a medical professional. She said her opthamologist/optometrist was near the Burlington Mall, a 3 minute drive from our current post. I said I'll check them out. After lunch, of course.
Stopped in to a quaint, clean eyeglass shoppe masking robotics the likes of which the world has never seen! I explained to the lovely receptionist that I had never been to Insight, had no idea if they had the right doctors or what the hell was happening to me. She calmly asked if I could fill out the new patient form. I said K. It asked about my hobbies. The response: yelp, staring at the sun and reading in the dark. She laughed a pity laugh. Wa-waaaaaaah.
Come to discover Dr. Blackie was wrapping up her last appointment of the day and STILL stuck around to take care of this lame walk-in. She ran me through a comprehensive battery of tests, quietly explaining everything with the best bedside manner I've ever experienced. Interesting sidenote: the sensor on the glaucoma puff test couldn't focus on my massive pupil and proceeded to rapidly zoom in and out. Just your everyday mechanical humping of the eyesocket. C'est la vie.
Diagnosis: an opthamic migraine in my left eye triggered by food allergy or stress. No meds, just a cordial "Let us know if it happens again. And you did the right thing for coming here." Thanks for the psychological cattleprod, Penny.
And MANY thanks to Dr. Blackie and Insight Optical for diffusing this catastrophic situation. |
